I have been surfing on a fish surfboard almost everyday for over 10 years.

Why?

Its easier to catch more waves, make more radical turns and have more fun. Have you ever went surfing and watched the surfers that are surfing on the wrong surfboard for that break?

Oh I bet that you thought you can catch a wave and ride it with any shape surfboard, I did to when I was a grom. I thought that with talent, skill and dedication that I could surf on any surfboard on any wave. Sure some surfers that have been surfing for years and years can pull it off.

Learn the surfboard shape that works best for you! Try different shapes for the surf break that you are surfing.

Pay close attention to who is catching all the waves and the type of surfboard that they are using.

Yesterday I went surfing, at my surf break we mostly know everyone. But I really didn’t see any one familiar which is unusual.

So they don’t know that I surf there everyday. I get the basic bull shit people cutting back at me etc.

Until I start to catch wave after wave then surprisingly, people start to notice that maybe they are at my surf break

On the average I caught 5 times the amount of waves than any of them. I am serious. All because I am surfing on a fish surfboard. More float more speed = more waves!

So like I have been saying if you want to catch more waves and bring your surfing to the next level try surfing on a fish surfboard.

Purchasing a fish surfboard is probably the easiest way to take your surfing to the next level. My surfing improved dramatically after I started riding a fish surfboard. I was able to catch more waves. It didnt take as much effort for me to catch the wave therefore I caught more waves.

The fish surfboard is more stable than your conventional shortboard. So almost instantly the other surfers noticed that my surfing was improving. After a few months of surfing of riding a fish surfboard, I was even able to graduate to a smaller fish surfboard.

I was able to catch the wave sooner, this is important to me! I started catching waves almost before the wave broke. Just about the same spot as those long boarders.

Ok I admit it I am a self professed wave hog. I do not always care if I catch the perfect wave. I just want to catch plenty of waves for the time I have to surf. Raising a family and having several jobs in the past didn’t leave me enough time to spend in the water.

Well I guess I am a beach hog also because I need about 20 hrs a week of beach time mostly in the water. When I cant get at least 20 hrs a week I had to compress my wave catching and catch more waves to make up for it.

These days its a different story. But one part of the story remains steady for me. I found the type of surfboard that works for me in almost any condition.

Its called the fish surfboard, I catch more waves with a fish surfboard than I do with any other surfboard. Small surf or big surf it doesn’t matter I catch more waves and you will also.

Here are a few of my secrets that have helped me catch more waves.

Find out what type of surfboard works best for you. Try out different shapes if you can. I was privileged to work and surf at Sebastian Inlet for several years, where I could study surfboard shapes and surfing styles.

The fish surfboard is still working the best for me. It is the most consistent wave catching machine in good or crappy surf. If you like to catch alot of waves per session, if you consider yourself sort of a progressive surfer even if you are in your 50s like me.

Surfing on a fish surfboard makes me feel like a kid again because it keeps up with the curl and allows me to still hit the lip. Hey that’s what I wanted to do when I was in my 20s and I am still doing it in my 50s.

It took me a while but after many years of surfing I still want to improve my surfing every session. I have always been a person who wanted to use my knowledge and abilities to their maximum potential.

Surfing is fun and the more waves you can catch and rip the more fun you will be having.

Lets get real and apply these principles to all the activities that we are involved in. I have put my heart and soul into surfing for 30 years. Truth is being so dedicated rubbed off into many other areas of my life. As I said before use your knowledge and abilities to progress in all aspects of your life. I am.

Fish Surfboards were born around the 70s. The fish surfboard shape was created for those not so perfect surfing days. Fish surfboards are great for those days when the waves are small. One of the best surfboards for Cocoa Beach or any other surf break on those days that are hard to catch a wave is a Fish Surfboard.

The Fish surfboard is a variation of the modern type of surfboard and is normally under 6 ft with very little rocker. Meaning the bottom of the surfboard is almost totally flat. This rocker-less bottom helps you catch waves better because there is less drag. The classic Fish Surfboard tail looks like a W. The Fish Surfboard is shaped like this for more lift. More lift means you can catch more waves with less effort. More lift also helps with turning the board.

This is just a general over view of the Fish Surfboard I have seen these boards all shapes and colors. Surfing on a fish surfboard has helped improve my surfing. The best part is everyone thinks my surfing ability has improved. Not so! Some smart surfers told me that surfboard shape and size can make plenty of difference on any particular day.

Buying a surfboard is serious business. Deciding weather to purchase a longboard surfboard or shortboard is only the beginning. Certainly the price is of concern to most of us also. Buying cheap surfboards can be pretty easy if you know where to find them and have decided on the type of surfboard you are looking for. Not many surf shops will even allow you to try out their used surfboards for obvious reasons.
